This advertised kit includes 520 pitch conversion chain and sprockets , which are 2mm narrower than DR650 oem 525 pitch. Less material equals less rotating mass and less overall weight. 520 Pitch is widely used on all 125/250 and 450 MX bikes and racing motorcycles. 520 is OEM on all DRZ400 models, including street and dirt models. For Exact OEM DR650se gear ratio... Use a 15t tooth Front Sprocket /42t Rear. OEM Ratio is the Factory Suzuki Calculated best all around gearing, with the least amount of compromise on top end or bottom end acceleration.

For Mild Freeway gear ratio (slightly lower top gear cruising rpm's, slightly higher top speed), use a 15 tooth front /41t Rear Sprocket. Your usual highway speed cruising rpm's will be. Lower than with stock gearing, and top speed will be slightly higher. For QUICK ACCELERATION gear ratio (quicker off the line, quicker roll on's), use a 14 tooth front/42t Rear Sprocket.

The -1t front sprocket change is versatile because you can change to the stock ratio size 15t with same chain. Your highway speed cruising rpm's will be. Higher than with stock gearing, and top speed will be reduced. For QUICK ACCELERATION gear ratio (quicker off the line, quicker roll on's), use a 15 tooth front / 44t or 45t Rear Sprocket. Larger turning radius with 15t is better for drive chain wear. 15/45t is the same ratio as 14/42t. For EXTREME QUICK ACCELERATION gear ratio (Hill Climbs, MX track ratio), use a 14 tooth front / 44t or 45t Rear Sprocket.

Higher than with stock gearing, and top speed will be GREATLY reduced. 14/45t is the same ratio as 15/48t.

Original Factory Supplied OEM size sprockets are the calculated "Happy Medium" of off the line acceleration, roll on's, and reasonable high speed engine rpm's with the least amount of compromise on either top end or low end acceleration. Type master link and a CLIP type. Master link when a SILVER chain is selected. Otherwise, a Gold Chain comes with ONLY a CLIP Type master Link.
